Southern Moonshine

Before turning in last night we had to peek at the moon, and this is what greeted us, at 1AM.  Checked again at 5AM and it was almost all over. Not a bad picture for a cheap camera!

  1. That looks beautiful. The moon here last night was intensely bright, almost daylight, especially with the reflection of the snow. It looked magical, as does that.

  2. I think it was the most intense light from the moon I've ever seen. And I believe it was the winter solstice last night, double magic!

  3. I should have gotten out of bed and looked for the moon earlier--had tried to judge from the time line I read in the news. Either it was all over or just too overcast here for any sign of the moon shortly after 4 a.m.

  4. You were lucky to see it, here the eclipse was between 6.30am and 7.40am when the moon was setting and as we are in a valley it was too low in the sky for us to see even if it hadn't been cloudy. It was big and bright when I saw it earlier this evening though.
