Hairballs

Our cat's hairballs are not cute!
I'm tired of cleaning hairballs!!!  It's that time of year when Miss Kitty starts shedding her winter coat.  She's a shorthair and even with us giving her Petromalt to help her pass them she has had some monsters.
Now with our daughter's cat staying with us it's worse, much, much worse.  He's a Himalayan (I think) with very long hair.  And there is hair every where upstairs and hairballs that look like elephant droppings.  I brush him every day and use a furminator to help him shed out, but it's still a job cleaning up after him.
I'm considering shaving the two of them!

Not Yojhi, but what he look like

  1. Oh dear...my sister has two large cats, and has the same problem. One is very long hair, and she just had her shaved. Had to put her out to do it. She looks like a lion as they left mane and tail.

We get our little doggie, Molly (Shih Tzy) groomed monthly as they are long hair...but we keep her short year round except her ears and tail.

  2. This made me think of a hilarious moment on my classroom last week. One of my kids got a weird coughing fit. (He's eight.) When he finished he said, with a very straight face, "Sorry. Hairball."

  3. I have an idea that we used to give our cats olive oil to help with furballs - but it may be only my imagination. Good luck with all the flying fur!

  4. Oh gosh, I would not be able to cope with that. Mind you we have to search our dog for the ticks now they've reached this coast which is totally gross

  5. Never thought of the hairball aspect when having a long haired cat. It would drive me nuts too.
