Autumn in the South

The corner by the front door.
No the leaves aren't changing colors or falling and the weather isn't cold, but you can feel a change.  The angle of light is different, acorns are everywhere, making the squirrels downright giddy, and the humidity is definitely lower.  Yes we had a day that reached 90º this week, but with lower humidity it didn't feel bad.
Mac bought me two huge Chrysanthemums to go on the  front porch and we've set out our jack o'lanterns.  Will be picking up some pumpkins for Mac to carve tomorrow.  So even though the yard isn't looking very autumnal, the porch and stairs are.

  1. It's nice to mark the seasons with change of colour in decorations. I do that in my own home as well.

  3. I've got autumn decorations up inside but couldn't find any big pots of chrysanthemums this year. Will put out some pumpkins when I get back from Spain - I'll be leaving later this morning. One of the things I love about being in the US in the autumn is that so many people decorate their houses outside. Nobody does that over here.

Those chrysanthemums look wonderful, just the right colours.

  7. Love your decorations, Janet. I never thought about autumn in the South, we don't have the colourful leaves as you have them in parts of the States but ours do change colours and fall off the trees.

Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your life.
