Storm Damage

In my last post I said we'd had a bad storm and it was.  We lost the top part of one of our trees, easily 25 feet long with numerous heavy branches attached.  Too heavy for us to move, have to wait for our friend to come over with his chain saw.  Luckily it fell at the back of the yard and nowhere near the house.
We had a small storm last night, less thunder and lightning.  We've had over 4 inches of rain in the last couple of days.  I need to mow the lawn, but it's too wet, maybe tomorrow.  Supposed to be less rain as the week goes on, but the heat will be going up and we'll be heading towards the upper 90's again.  Well it is July and it was only 88º degrees yesterday.

In some other news I managed to soap my ring off my finger and we took it to a jeweler in town who does stone replacement and they're going to get me an estimate on the replacement and it should all be done in a couple of weeks.  I have to say my finger feels strange without it.

  1. Excellent the storm did not damage your property or yourselves. That's some serious trouble going on there.

  2. Glad the tree fell away from your house. We have had lots of rain and thunderstorms lately too. I worry all the time about a tree falling on the house. I don't know why I can't keep up with where your blog is...it's me. I know just enough about a computer to be dangerous! Enjoyed catching up with your posts.

  3. We had huge ice balls in our storms here at the weekend and many folk are now facing huge bills for repairs to skylights and to any car left out in it. Our friend's car has so much damage to the roof that he is having to have a new roof.

  6. Like the other commenters, I am glad nobody was hurt and that there was no damage to your property. It must have been a truly scary storm.

  7. That's a shame about your poor tree but at least everyone was safe. I 'borrowed' my mum's engagement ring when I was in my teens without her knowledge and got it stuck on my finger, I ended up having to go to the local fire station to have it cut off and in the process all the diamonds dropped out of it. Luckily, none were lost and I thought I was going to be in all sorts of bother but my lovely mum just told me that she wasn't bothered just so long as my finger was ok. I did get the ring fixed for her.

  8. Oh gosh, well, I'm glad it didn't fall on your house!!!
We've been having quite hard winds here as well (and rain).

  9. Lucky the tree top fell where it did. There have been some bad storms in Bluffton and Beaufort and we are sort of in between. We lost electricity for a few hours when a tree fell on the power line just up the road. These downpours are something new to me. I can't believe how it can rain 5 inches in no time!
