It Has to Go

Yes, it has to go and it's all my fault.  This is the couch in our family room, the room we spend most of our time in and I hate this couch.  I bought it and I should have known better.   I hate shopping, except online and so I thought I'd buy my couch online.  I went to a furniture store I'd bought from before, picked out a style I liked, a fabric, chenille, that I know wears well, and a color I could live with even if I didn't love it.
They brought it out at no extra charge and it looked fine.  Over time it wore fairly well, except for one problem, none of the cushions are reversible.  I hadn't even thought to check for that, I'd assumed that all loose cushion couches were reversible, well there not.  I can't reverse the cushions, can't flip them over and so they're wearing in ways they shouldn't, it doesn't look good and I'm not happy.  Don't think Miss Kitty is happy either.  She, who never scratches the furniture, preferring her scratching post, has started sharpening her claws on the end of the couch.
So this Fall, when the dust has settled I will venture forth, check cushions carefully and get me a new couch.  The Salvation Army is welcome to this one.

  1. I felt the same way about the orange sofa we inherited from my mother-in-law. I gave it away more than forty years ago, and have not owned a sofa that big since.

  2. We've had sofas with reversible cushions and without. I purchased a quite pricey leather loveseat in WY thinking that -SURELY- our cats would NOT scratch leather. We now own a disreputable looking scratched and scruffed leather loveseat. I think from here on out our furniture should come from Goodwill [ugh!]

  3. The last time I went couch shopping I was amazed that some couches have muslin on the bottom of the cushions. I finally found a great store that carried Broyhill Sofas and Love seats. Mine are brown microfiber that looks like leather, the cushions will reverse and flip any which way...I have been pleased. :)

  4. I have a very old sofa and went to purchase a new one. Wow, they just don't make things the way they used to, I guess! I don't think I saw any with reversible cushions. Guess I have to keep looking! In the meantime, I have thrown an old sheet over my sofa! :-)

  5. What? No reversible cusihions? That's just crazy. I did notice that about my daughter's new couch and think it was not a good idea to choose one with reversible cushions but maybe she didn't have a choice. I think it's all part of the conspiracy to make us shop/buy more!
