Five on Friday

I'm joining in with Amy at Love Made My Home, and others, for Five on Friday.  This will be a quickie because we have to hitch up the horses and head into town to go to the General Store, also known as the military commissary, and do that most dreaded thing, grocery shopping.

Our daughter lives in Japan and finds it rather strange that the Japanese have adopted Halloween and you see signs of it everywhere beginning in September.  It's mostly a grown-up holiday, but who knows, can Trick or Treating be far behind?

The Owls Have It

Not Quite Sure Where This one's From, But it Looks Good

That's my Five and a bit more.

  1. Oh that is really interesting! I can't believe how much Halloween has grown in this country. When I was little we just bobbed in water for apples but it's become huge now. I sort of like it though, the children love it. Have a lovely weekend and good luck with the grocery shopping xx

  2. What cute and delicious looking owls. Odd about Halloween spreading in Japan. I hope they embrace Christmas too.

  3. I've read Halloween is the second biggest holiday in this country, behind only Christmas. And now it's sweeping the world.

  4. Halloween has certainly become a big event over here with all the decorations, pumpkins and 'trick or treat'. When I was a child we used to carve a turnip or swede to make a lantern and sometimes tell spooky stories far more was made of mischevious night and bonfire night but that is a British thing rather than an international celebration:)

  8. Cute owl cakes and cupcakes! So, how many groceries can you get in the saddlebags? :-)

Hope you didn't get too much rain and flooding last week!

  9. The owl cakes are so cute. Halloween wasn't a big thing when I was young, we didn't have trick or treat or dress up but it's a big thing now, the shops are filled with so much merchandise. It's something else we've adopted from America.

  10. Halloween has grown over here too, we certainly don't go all out like you do in America but there is the odd piece of décor here and there and outfits.

  11. Well I never!! It all looks very Japanese to me! Amazing how different parts of the world have a different take on things isn't it, so fascinating to see I think. Thank you for joining Five On Friday. I hope that you are having a great weekend! xx

  12. I asked the farmer's niece about shipping to the US for her jigsaws etc. She says that her website is set up to ship anywhere in the world, but shipping is quite expensive. Go to her website to see details and if you have difficulty then let me know and I will send you her e mail address.
