A Minor Disaster

The Culprit
First of all, a  thank you to all of you for thoughts and prayers for my daughter in Japan.  As I said she's fine and the aftershocks have settled down and she's looking forward to getting some sleep tonight.  We'll be Skyping with her in the morning.
Now, my minor disaster.  On Thursday Miss Kitty went with me when I went upstairs to work on my puzzle, I've been making good progress and had it about half done.  Mac came up to take a look and when he left I thought Miss Kitty had left with him.  So when I left I looked in the window seat and when she wasn't there I assumed she'd left, so I left, and shut the door so she couldn't get back in and mess with the puzzle.
She hadn't left and when she woke up and found herself locked in she did what any self respecting cat would do----she jumped on the puzzle and flipped it over.
Mac heard the thud of the board it was sitting on hitting the ground and ran upstairs to find Kitty sitting there with a "Who Me?"  look on her face and the puzzle scattered everywhere.  He ran downstairs and got a spatula so he could pick up the pieces that were still connected, then he came to tell me.
I didn't cry, I didn't scream, I didn't drop kick the cat, it was my fault I should have made sure she wasn't still in there.
So for the last 2 days I've been trying to get it back together again and I'm about a 1/3 of the way there.  When I came down today I carried Miss Kitty with me.  I may be forgetful, but I'm not stupid.

The disaster, Mac had already picked up some of pieces before he came to tell me.

  1. I have not been listening to the news. I am glad to hear your daughter is okay. My nephew is there too, stationed in Okinawa.

Pity about the puzzle! I am such a fanatic about them I'll sit up til 4 in the morning to finish one. I cannot leave them alone once I start. My husband has hidden them all from me :)

  2. Oh No, but you will get it all back together!! We used to have a puzzle board like that and we would slide it under the couch:)

  3. Puzzles and your cat just do not mix. You have written before about the kitty destroying your puzzle.
I think I saw a mat that you worked the puzzle on and then rolled it up. That way the cat could not ruin another one.
That is one of the main thing I do not like about cats Jumping where they are not suppose to be.
But saying that, we have had cats and have adored them all. I taught them not to jump up on the kitchen counter and the dining room table. Any other place was fine.

Hope your daughter is feeling better and still safe.
    cheers, parsnip

  4. Oh, Miss Kitty - but then she had to let you know she was fastened in there. I check wardrobes before we go out because one of ours sneaks in whilst you are taking things out and if you don't notice she gets trapped in. Glad to hear that your daughter is safe and well, you will enjoy talking on Skype:)

  9. Naughty Miss Kitty. At least you're getting your money's worth out of the puzzle putting it together twice.
