A Very Unusual Cafe

One day when we were in Japan and April was out of town we stopped by a very unusual cafe.  It was an owl cafe!  Japan has a number of animal cafes: cat, owl, dog, goat, falcon, reptile and bird.
April had pointed out the owl cafe which she had not visited and we decided that we would give it a go.  You pay about 1500 yen (about $15.00), have a drink, tea or coke and then get to spend an hour with the owls, holding them and "talking" to them.  I'll let my pictures do most of the talking, except to say that the first owl bit me, didn't hurt, but it scared me.  Liked the last owl, the barn owl best.

  3. That looks like a fun place to visit. I find big birds a bit scary and I am not sure if I could hold one. Two two are braver than I. Have a great weekend. x

  7. I was wondering if you would go to a Cat Tea Room while you were there.
I think they would get tired of the handling and noise ? Love all owls and adore the small one before the charming Barn Owl.

    cheers, parsnip

  10. sounds like a fun idea. I'm sure there would be way too many regulations to ever allow something like that here.

  11. Wow cool. Living in North Idaho I've seen a few snow owl and now wonder if northern Japan or higher elevation might have them.

  12. I love looking at pictures of owls but I'm not so sure how I'd feel actually holding one! ;)

  13. Intriguing idea - I can't see it catching on over here though. Must admit, when I go to a cafe I want a coffee, maybe something to eat and a natter if I'm with someone; fondling animals doesn't do a great deal for me, but each to their own. Do they do ones with lions, tigers and bears too?
