Hello November

Here's hoping November is cooler than October.  We broke a 50 something year old record yesterday, it was 87º and it's not a whole lot cooler today.  They keep promising cooler weather and I keep hoping for cooler weather, maybe in December.
We had 6 Trick or Treaters last night.  I gave each of them loads of candy and we still have leftovers. I use to give our leftovers to a friend, but he's diabetic not--hope I wasn't the cause of that--so I don't know what we'll do with the leftovers.  This year I intentionally bought candy that I don't like so I'm not even tempted.
We had doctor appointments today, got there a couple of minutes early and were told the doctor wouldn't be in today, family emergency.  Just as happy, didn't know why we were going anyway, usually go every 6 months unless there's a problem.  Anyway, talked it over, they looked through the Doctor's notes and we don't have to go back until our yearly physical in February.  But I did get my B-12 shot which I really needed.
Up in my craft room started work on an Autumn table topper, should have it done tomorrow.  Miss Kitty caught me up there working and wasn't happy that I didn't let her in, she said she could smell puzzle.

  1. We have had a mild October too, the temperature are starting to drop now. Good job I am not closer otherwise I would be eating the leftover treats.

  2. I bought exactly twice as much candy as needed. Now I know for next year. I took the left overs to town and gave them to a friend for their trick and treat last night (ours was Saturday). They have swarms of children, as trick or treat is downtown, among the shops. He was grateful for the addition to the stash.

    1. Joanne, every time I leave a reply at your blog site it comes back as undeliverable.

  3. That about the cat smelling puzzle is so funny! Dumperoo drives me crazy every time I go in the sewing room. He thinks it's funny to jump and land in the middle of a pattern piece I am cutting out. You know how thin patterns are. As usual, we did not have even one trick or treater.

  4. If there is a college student ministry program near you, believe me, it will be devoured.

  5. October was really warm here in NM too, I think the fifth warmest October on record, if I heard them correctly (sometimes weather people confuse me, I feel like they talk like used-car salesman sometimes, for the dramatic effect). I hope you get some cooler weather soon; it's pretty much over and done with here, now it's going to cool and wet for a few days, with normal dry/cool weather thereafter. I can't wait.

  6. We're having a mild week again too. I think it was 18C today. Frost is on the rooftops most mornings now. We all start the day in winter coats, but by afternoon we're back to spring jackets or t-shirts.
Here's hoping some cooler weather blows in for you!

  8. Earlier this week it was mild but this morning we have had our first frost of the season - good job we put all the tender plants in the greenhouse and conservatory. We had about 6 groups of children but still have left overs - unfortunately we bought little chocolate bars which we are now tempted to eat:)

  10. Like the painting in your header ... perfect for Halloween/November.

Yes, like Rosie, Jo and Mike, we too had frost this morning but a gloriously sunny day too. A walk in the park was invigorating and so enjoyable.

Sending good wishes for this new month.

    All the best Jan

  11. Take the candy to the doctor, he might need it after his emergency! Hope the weather cools down for you soon.

  12. Our local-based bank has a candy bowl with wrapped candy on the clerk's counter. We get a piece when we go every other week to cash a check for our spending money. I buy wrapped candy for the trick or treaters and take the left overs in to the bank to stock it up for them.

  13. It's a warm autumn here too. We've had a few bits of frost, but some odd 70° days at the end of October. I actually had to get my sandals down from the top closet shelf - it felt all wrong for the time of year.

  14. ... I intentionally bought candy that I don't like so I'm not even tempted. <-- Now see, I'm exactly the opposite. I buy candy three times for Halloween: First, a few weeks before to stock up. Then the day before Halloween, to replace the first batch that I've eaten (so I have something to hand out to trick-or-treaters). Then the day after Halloween, because it's half off.

This year, I only bought the first and third batch, because we were not home for Halloween.
