Surprise, Surprise

Walking down the hall to my closet yesterday I glanced in the bathroom and lo to my eyes what should appear, no not Santa and his reindeer, but rather a lovely green lizard.  And I don't think it was the Geico Gecko trying to sell me insurance.  But rather an Anole (chameleon) stretching his neck to look around.  I don't know who was more surprised, him or me.  Called for Mac who got a net and carried him outside.
Today has been spent taking down a bit more Christmas.  It sure goes up a lot quicker than it comes down.  I have the family room almost done and that's the room we use the most.  Mac has started hauling storage tubs down for me and I will get serious in the living room tomorrow.

  1. Daughter and housemates are coming for New Years and my Birthday, She asked if I could leave everything up so I will leave everything up till she leaves.
It is easy up and to take down.

  3. What a surprise to spot in your bathroom. I hate the taking down and putting away and the house always seems dull and empty for a while:)

  4. I think your little lizard was checking how your taking down Christmas was coming. We had many lizards in our complex, but have only be visited on the balcony, now in the apartment.

My Christmas is down, and the house is looking "streamline".

  6. You were certainly calm. When I see a lizard I run the other way.

  7. That would be a surprise to see in the bathroom! Thank goodness for Mac and his net and a kind way to make things right, too. It's always nice to get a start on wrapping up the holidays. I'm going to start Monday....I'm not ready to say goodbye to the pretties quite yet. Happy New Year! xx Karen

  8. I had 2 lizards that love my large (almost 5 ft. tall) tiki on my patio in the summer. I miss them. Hope to see them in the spring. :)

  9. So different in your part of the world. Fancy coming across a chameleon at this time of year, or at all in Jersey. Take it easy with the big tidy. B x

  10. What a cutie. We've still got everything up here, though things haven't been Christmassy at all this year.

  13. I'd be moving :) (not really, but I'd be thinking of it). We had two very tiny lizards in our house this past summer (about an inch each). They didn't freak me out as much as I thought they would. Now if it was a snake......

  14. I never take down my Christmas things until after Twelfth Day. Old Swedish tradition is to throw out the tree a week after that, around Jan 13th. (But then traditionally it also does not come into the house until just before Christmas.)

  15. Happy New Year to you both - Mac has done a great painting of your native birds - glad you have made good progress with clearing up after Christmas, me too - it is a good feeling.

  16. Those green lizards are getting rather rare. The brown ones eat them and there are hardly any more of them. Hugs,

  18. I am not sure how I would feel about a lizard, not something that we ever get in the house. Happy New Year.

  19. My cat would have been interested in the lizard! I cannot imagine what it would be like to find one in the house. Happy New Year to you.

    1. My cat would have been very interested if she had seen it, don't think the lizard would have enjoyed it though.
