A Sad Confession

I hate dusting, hate it with a passion, would rather clean toilets.  How sad is that!  But today I broke down and dusted our bedroom.  A room that has way too much wood  and fiddly stuff in it.  Armed with dust cloth, spray and a Swiffer I did battle and it's done.  My eyes are itchy and my nose keeps twitching because most of the dust ended up in them.  As I usually say, I could have built another cat with the amount of fur I took out of there.
Glad it's done, won't do it again till I start feeling way too guilty or I start having asthma attacks, which ever comes first.

The bears say that if I stir up any more dust they're riding out!

  1. I am not a fan either, cleaning toilets is definitely more pleasant. It's out of the way now, enjoy the rest of your day.

  3. In this respect, we are kindred spirits, both in the hating of dusting and the physical effects it causes.

  4. Living in Tucson, I have found the less "stuff" you have laying about the less dust to collect and much easier to dust.

  5. I feel for you. I gave this job to my husband when he retired! Today it's raining here, so no dust. Pat xx

  6. Beautiful windows in your bedroom! I think I do prefer dusting to cleaning toilets. I like to handle the thIngs I love as I dust them and think about where they came from and stuff like that. Other times, I just want to get the job done!

  7. I agree - I wait far too long and then I am sneezing and sniffling all day. Not a fan of toilet cleaning either....but that reminds me....Love the little peek of your pretty home. I will come over and dust for you just so I can see all your sweet things. Your floors are wonderful and those windows are too! Enjoy your dust free home :) xx K

  8. Not a fan either but equally not keen on cleaning toilets either. Like Beatrice it was lovely to get a glimpse of your lovely home, the wooden floors were a joy.

  9. LOL, I'm the same way. Dusting is one of my least favorite chores (followed by unstacking the dishwasher and folding clothes). Thankfully we don't generate a lot of dust and don't have pets so I can get by with dusting about once very month :) Works for me!

  10. Dust or no dust, you have a lovely home. I don't like dusting either, fortunately I have it done for me - it's my age, you see, I got less inclined and unable to do housework! Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  11. I used to be very strict about my dusting, but things have been sliding and I'm not that fond of it anymore. Maybe because I have so much more to dust these days! You have a beautiful bedroom! It looks as big as my living room. What a pretty place to enjoy a cup of tea in your little nook :)

  13. When Malcolm retired, I declared that I was retiring too ..... from doing all the housework. At first we took turn about each week, one vacuuming and dusting, the other cleaning toilets and mopping floors. Malcolm decided he didn't like doing toilets, but as I saw that he was far more pernickety than me when he dusted, I was quite happy to let him do that every week (and yet again my Mum was right, if you do the housework every week, it takes no time at all!!)

  14. I always blame the cats for all the dust and hairs around the floors, it is less now we only have the one but I try to vacumn and dust a couple of times a week, it's a chore rather than a 'want to do' though. Hope those bears stay with you:)

  15. I usually do a room a day that way I don't get too behind. We dust about every three days, it helps keep the dust way down:)

  16. I have lots of wooden surfaces too and I hate any form of housework as it interferes with my crafting. Unfortunately, I like the house to be clean so tend to have a massive cleaning session then forget it til the next time it annoys me. I do keep the kitchen and bathrooms clean just in case you thought I was a dirty midden! (Scots word for unclean) Catriona
