On Sunday

As opposed to Never on Sunday, one of my all time favorite movies.  It's hot, just flat out hot.  We only did part of our walk this morning and then came home and jumped in the pool.  That's going to have to be the order of the day until it cools down some.
Below is a selection of my summer time hats, that plus a couple of baseball caps, I never go outside without something on my head.  Not even when I hang out clothes.  I even swim in a hat.

Our Confederate Rose handled being moved over to the pool well, it's been blooming ever since.

Yesterday I started making placemats to go on the table outside.  Had to get outdoor fabric that can take the rain and now I need some plastic dishes.  I see a Dollar store visit in my future.

Not much cooking going on, too hot in the kitchen so we'll share a steak, baked potatoes and a salad.
We'll be pigging out on the 4th when we do a Low Country Boil and have RootBeer Floats.   Hope you're having a good weekend.

  1. It is hot here too - saw a hummingbird hawk moth in the garden feeding from my Lavender which made my day.
No idea what RootBeer floats are?

  2. Your hats are so pretty! I have always wanted to wear a hat but have always been too self-conscience. Is that dumb or what? It is miserably hot and humid here too. From now through August, Georgia and NC will be hot and sticky, don't you think?

  3. A Lowcountry boil + root beer floats = perfect!!!
94 in the shade in our backyard right now and the air con is running just about continuously. Not looking forward to the electric bill!

  4. Hot here too. I finally talked my husband into turning off the solar panels to the pool. It was too hot to get into yesterday. This morning was so refreshing I did not want to get out. Happy 4th!

  6. I always swim in the pool with a hat. If I need to take it off it goes right back on and I have a huge shade covering half of the pool !

  8. Sounds like quite a feast. We have a great view of the fireworks right from our patio so we're looking forward to that.

  9. I'd take some of your heat. It hasn't felt like summer yet for me. I can't imagine having a pool too hot to swim in (as per Mereknits comment above). Your hats are very nice! I can't get them to fit me properly. -Jenn

  10. I spent a long time looking at the window painting header. Great composition from near detail to far views through windows like some of the Flemish paintings I love.
I see many more people carrying parasols these days, even in the UK!
Cloudy and a comfortable temperature today. We had some high temperatures a while back and everything was a huge effort. I don't know how you manage even with a pool.

  11. Having a swim whenever you like must be wonderful. I'm glad you explained the root beer floats. Can't believe it's almost 4th July - tomorrow in fact. The year is flying by.

  12. You have now got me thinking about rootbeer floats, I have ice cream but what sodas do we have? Love the table mats.

  13. I'd love to be able to wear a hat, but I can't stand anything on my head. I'd be like a horse trying to shake it off immediately.

It's hot here, too. It reminds me of when we lived near Columbia, SC, and someone coined the phrase There is nothing between hell and Columbia, South Carolina, in the summer but an open screen door. That hot.

  14. I like your hats. I think I have a big head (not brain, but head) so its hard to find a hat that fits well. Thankfully I'm not in the sun much. I find ourselves during summer with cooking to cook something that lasts 2 days so the second day we can just heat it up. We indulge a bit more with bringing in food for some occasions during the hot summer months. Since grandson is 16 months old, I always have to make sure there is something toddler friendly to eat when he is over for dinner (2 nights a week).

Stay cool and enjoy the 4th!
