It really was in response to an article in one of the British newspapers...have to take up for Charles Dickens, for Pete's sake!Kay G.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07228498846814735537noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-911604654446032587.post-40286600289186775632012-02-08T08:59:38.548-08:002012-02-08T08:59:38.548-08:00I like Dickens. I've also read and enjoyed 'Little Dorrit'. I know the stories of David Copperfield, Oliver Twist and Nicholas Nickleby well as I've seen so many film and tv adaptations over the years; same with Bleak House. There was a wondeful adaptation of 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood' on TV here at New Year which I really enjoyed:)Rosiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04733563829902335223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-911604654446032587.post-25076057036076613292012-02-07T17:05:56.106-08:002012-02-07T17:05:56.106-08:00P.S. I was so very glad to be able to sit with my mom for hours, hold her hand, and tell her I loved her. Mr. Micawber does have some really great lines - "The twins are no longer deriving their sustenance from nature's founts--in short, they are weaned." For some reason that one has always stuck in my head.

Bleak House is hugely long, but amazingly good. Incredible pathos, drama, and humor.

I also really liked Our Mutual Friend and Nicholas Nickleby.Mrs. Micawberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08680436275934263596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-911604654446032587.post-26809428600248609912012-02-07T13:46:04.366-08:002012-02-07T13:46:04.366-08:00Like Rowan, I loved a Christms Carol.

I don't honestly like Dickens much, the only books of his that I've really enjoyed are A Christmas Carol and A Tale Of Two Cities - read that if you can, it's a wonderful story.Rowanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13679130612798888266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-911604654446032587.post-42182980756500684962012-02-07T13:11:14.647-08:002012-02-07T13:11:14.647-08:00I think G Expectations is his best.
