Broke down and we got flu shots this week. We don't normally get them, but this year's outbreak is so bad we decided maybe we had better. Mac had virtually no reaction and I had a sore arm that's more or less gone now so that's good.
Cold today, but promises of temperatures around 70º by mid-week, doesn't that sound good!
I figure the Patriots will win the Super Bowl and that's just boring, would love an upset.
Just finished reading We'll Always Have Paris: Trying and Failing to be French by Emma Beddington and really enjoyed it. From the time she was a teenage reading French Elle she knew she was French trapped in an English body. This is her autobiography. Funny, sad and very interesting. I understand she has a blog called www.belgianwaffling.com and I guess I'll have to go and give it a look to see what she's been up to since writing the book.
I still haven't got a flu shot. Think the best for me is to be antisocial. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNo shot here, either, though I've entertained the idea, once or twice.
ReplyDeleteI did get my flu shot yesterday at a drug store....Would have had it just after Thanksgiving at my GPs office, but they cancelled two appts on me and now I would not see her until the end of March! Bah! The flu seems pretty serious this year and one of my grandsons has it. No reaction.
ReplyDeleteGerard gets a flu jab every year due to his poor immune system but I must admit I don't generally bother.
ReplyDeleteI get the old person extra flu shot because of my immune (don't really have one) system. Son and daughter always get one because they do not what me to get sick. Even if the shot this year is not as good as other years it helps.
ReplyDeleteThe herd immunity really works. I have not gone out a lot these last months
staying away from crowds and we wipe everything down. Even steering wheels and my phone.
I would like to check out the blog, sounds so interesting.
cheers, parsnip and mandibles
I had to have the shot because of volunteering at the VA. However, this years is only 10% effective against the flu that is out there -and there are actually two flu viruses that are hitting hard here. My grandson had one strain and now my DIL is really sick, too.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping you don't get it. xo Diana
I haven't got a flu shot. I don't go out much so hopefully that will keep me safe lol. Hubby has had the actual flu but I haven't caught it yet!
ReplyDeleteFlu is going around in Japan too. Last year,my mother got a flue shot but then she had serious flue. I wash my hands when get home outside in public.
ReplyDeleteMy son is not also keeping well since yesterday..
ReplyDeleteOur flu shots come at the end of the year simply because our seasons aren't the same. I have one every year but wondered recently if it was necessary now that I don't go out much.
ReplyDeleteI had my first flu shot this winter and so far so good. I don't know if I have avoided flu, but I know several people who have had a horrid time with very bad colds if not actual flu so I am glad I got it and will get another in future years if it protects me. Hope that it protects you and that you remain fit and well!
ReplyDeleteWe were exactly the same Paul was okay with his jab but mine was red, itchy, sore and a bit swollen - never had that before! Hope you stay safe from flu and colds:)
ReplyDeleteI have not gotten a shot either; maybe I should.
ReplyDeleteSnowy here today and damp-cold. I'm still nursing along this cold which has become an icky cough but otherwise feeling much better. The book sounds interesting. I'll add it to my reading list. Have a good day, Janet.
Some schools are closing because of the flu. Good thing you got your shots we got ours back in October.
ReplyDeleteI got a flu shot in the fall which I've always done since teaching exposes you to all those kid germs. One year I got the flu in spite having of the shot and I would not want that experience again! I hope this year's is more reliable than the 10% I've read it is.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't bitten the bullet here for the flu shot. I am up on my pneumonia shots though. Hope it gives you some protection.
ReplyDeleteOh man, hope you avoid the flu! My husband was the only one who go the flu shot this year, and a few days after, he got the flu worse than he has ever had it in his life.. but me and the kiddos didn't get the flu, even with him in the house! The flu is no fun, that's for sure! - http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
ReplyDeleteI've never had a flu shot but I've got my B12 shot tomorrow, that's bad enough. Mick stayed up to watch the Super Bowl last night, I think it finished about 3.30am here. Daniel and his girlfriend went into London to watch it in a bar which was showing it, he won't be impressed as he's a Patriots fan but I doubt his girlfriend will be bothered as she follows Denver.
ReplyDeleteWe were pleased that Philadelphia won, gets boring if the same team wins all the time.
DeleteWe always have a flu shot at the end of each September, and touch wood, have avoided the dreaded lurgy for many years now.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get a flu shot because I had a booster shot for DPT last fall and had a severe reaction. I was so sick.....now I am scared to get them. I watched the Super Bowl - but mainly for the commercials and half-time show :) x
ReplyDeleteI got the flu shot in November, so far so good. I know a few people who had the flu and they all said it was awful. At least they were smart enough to stay home and not share the germs.
ReplyDeleteI need to check that out. Thanks for the book referral. I got my flu shot finally. So far, so good.
ReplyDeleteAwesome blog, i always enjoy & read the post you are sharing.Thank for your very good article...!
