A Small Whine From the Swamp

I'm tired of child proof bottles, they should never be given to adults unless we request them.  There haven't been any kids under the age of 10 in this house in many a year.  Just 2 adults who would like to be able to open a bottle with out going through h••l.  You have to push down, stand on your head, reach behind your back, burn a small offering to the Gods of childproof bottles and hope you can open it.
I just want to gently twist the lid and open the bottle, is that asking too much?

  1. I've just spend half an hour filling up my pill tray. My nail is split with trying to press out tablets from their housing. I can't get the lids off bottles either without having a few goes at it.

  2. I have heard many complain about these ...and yet sometimes a child has been able to open them easily!!!

    Like the cartoon you've pictured!

    Take care

  4. You should get a couple of kids in your house to open the bottles, they probably won't have any trouble! :-)

  6. I open my tylenol bottle and empty the contents into my vit a&d bottle which opens easily. That way I just have the hassle of opening the awful bottle once.

  7. On my gosh I feel your frustration. The number of times I've almost thrown the darn bottle at the wall...

  8. You need a child they can open them easily. We have child safety gates that they manage to open too, only useful for the smallest.

  9. I find certain kinds of packaging more annoying than pill bottles. When they have very tough plastic and no obvious way in. Grrr!

  10. My migraine medicine used to come in flat packaging, each pill barricaded inside cardboard packaging you had to wrestle with to slid open. Inside that was a plasticized square of cardboard, in the center of which sat the pill under another layer, this time thick aluminum foil that could only be breached with a knife.
Needless to say, my migraine did not improve through this process.

    1. I was going to mention the same stuff! It's always the middle of the night, in the dark, in the car, or in the movie theater, or some such place, when i need it. The packets must be snipped with scissors (who carries SCISSORS?), then the foil pried up and peeled back. Eeeaow! Who designs these things?!! Walmart says that's the only way they are available.

  11. I feel your frustration. I find it harder and harder to open all kinds of packaging, including those little Jam/Marmalade things and little uht milk cartons. My knuckles lock bent under and the click to get them straight again isn't nice. I can usually open bottles and jars if I use a towel over them to help with the grip:)

  12. Life was so simple before some sociopath put cyanide in Tylenol capsules.

  13. I love my pharmacist he puts all my meds in easy open bottles.
I really don't take over the counter stuff.
But when I did I have been known to take a hammer to them. Do you know the slippery little sucker can sure pop up and bounce across the floor when hit ?
But a lot of that has to do with folks who don't watch or safe gard their kids.
Have you read the rash of children eating dish and laundry pods ?
What is next childproof washing up liquids ? People are lazy
or just don't take the time.
    I feel your frustration.

  14. I know what you mean! Happily my BP and thyroid meds come in packs that you just pop a tablet out of. I try and buy over the counter meds in the same format too - I think the dog's Metacam is the only thing we have with a childproof top:)

  16. I totally agree but couldn't help but laugh at your description. I hate those that you push down on with all your strength and all you get is a clicking sound. Those will not open!

  17. so it's not just me then! I've got nothing against childproof bottles since we have small children in the house, but do they have to make them adult proof too?

  18. Haha! Yes, it is so annoying! I transfer mine to easy-open bottles with masking tape labels. I can't deal with it. xx K
