Yesterday Lea at Cici's Corner posted a question and answer piece that I thought I might do, but I got hung up on the first question and knew that's what I wanted to write about. The question: What's your favorite animal?I love bears and buffaloes are right up there, but at heart my favorite animal is the elephant. Always has been, going back to when we were in high school and for my birthday Mac gave me a stuffed elephant with his class ring on a chain around its neck.
Then about 14 years ago he took me away for a weekend and gave me another elephant with a beautiful sapphire and diamond ring on a chain.
The first elephant is long gone, our daughter played it to death. But the second elephant is still here, along with a couple of friends.
This week Mac painted an elephant and I fell in love with it, so he's going to paint one for me too.
I may get around to the rest of those questions one day.
They are amazing animals. I love Mac's painting of elephant and butterflies:)

ReplyDeleteOh, that is so sweet. Hope you will show us the elephant painting. Elephants are such big gentle looking animals, and a baby elephant is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest daughter used to collect animals as a child and always carried one around with her.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter spent some time in India last year at an elephant sanctuary. She loved working with those animals. I guess you and Mac have been together for a long time.

ReplyDeleteThose are sweet memories. I don't think I could choose just one favourite animal, but elephants are known for their intelligence, their family groupings, usually gentle nature. So, you married your highschool sweetheart? -Jenn

ReplyDeleteSuch a great painting and story! Its interesting how we come to like the animals we call our favorites. My mom's favorite was the giraffe. She just loved its long neck. I'm partial to polar bears and penguins, perhaps because son liked polar bears and penguins. For years he wanted a penguin as a pet :)
