Last week one of my favorite bloggers, Marianne at Let's Read, posted a list of her 10 favorite non- book blogs. I checked out the ones I wasn't familiar with and found Duolingo a free site for learning a new language.
Ah ha, what a good idea. We're planning a trip for next year that includes Berlin, so what a good way to brush up on my German.
We lived in Germany off and on for 10 years while Mac was in the Army and at one time I could get around in Deutsch, but those days are long gone. So I've been working at the Duolingo site and having fun rediscovering my German.
The one thing slowing me down, among many others, is that when I don't remember a word in
German I remember it in Spanish. Too funny.
Maybe tomorrow I'll write about some of the places we lived in Germany.
Bis Morgen!
I must give that a go, I am over in Germany a lot now daughter lives there. How lovely to be going to Berlin, I truly loved it x
ReplyDeleteI learnt French at school but definitely couldn't hold a conversation in it, languages was something I never really enjoyed but it must be nice to be able to talk the language of a country you're visiting.
ReplyDeleteI am soooo happy that you tried it out and like it. I think it is a fabulous site and am learning a new language as well as getting back into a language that I started learning a long long time ago but never continued for various reasons. Love it. I am sure by the time you will visit Germany, you'll be fluent.
ReplyDeleteViel Spaß and viel Glück,

My husband and I lived in Germany for many years, our three daughters were born there as we too were in the Army. I served almost 9 years and my husband did the full 22 years service. I must check out the site.
ReplyDeleteI hope that it all comes flooding back! Enjoy your new learning - or relearning!
ReplyDeleteLooks interesting, might give it a go... :)
ReplyDeleteThe immediate response one gets is brilliant. I got started on learning a bit of Spanish and got sucked into it like a game :)
DeleteI'm sure your German will all come back to you! It's in there somewhere... I am learning German on duolingo too. How exciting to have a trip planned for next year!
ReplyDeleteI am really happy to read all these posts and that people like Duolingo just as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, Janet.
Have a great weekend,
