Poor, Poor Garden

I feel very ashamed of myself, I have totally neglected my garden since Spring.  Mac did what he could, along with all of his other yard work.  But I should have been out there weeding and keeping it tidy, beating back the jungle.  I use to love Summer, but now the heat just knocks me out.  Today is overcast and only in the 70's, a great day for gardening and I spent some quality time out there.
Note the tree that had to be cut apart so that you can get into the backyard from the garden.  The insurance people are coming tomorrow and we'll be able to take down more of the trees down, but we wanted them to see the damage first, better in person than in a photo.

  1. I wouldn't be able to work in the garden if we had heat like you do. Hope you get the insurance claim sorted out and then you can really get to work.

  2. I find it hard to garden in the summer here, too. I planted early and everything was done producing by August, about when I couldn't stand to take care of it anymore anyway. And besides the heat, there are the bugs. Every time I go out I get bit up by something. Cleaning up from the hurricane left me covered with huge welts and I never saw a bug so I don't even know what they were. All the bites are under my clothes. Don't be too hard on yourself. There is always next year!

  3. I am not sure that I would be able to work in a garden in that sort of heat either. Hope all goes well with the insurance claim.

  4. If your weather is a perfect as mine, you had a great couple of days. I am ashamed to say the garden at the old house was neglected this summer, but won't be too big a challenge for the new owner.

  5. Don't be ashamed, I think it would be very difficult to maintain a garden with summer heat like you get. It might not even be medically advisable! :)

  7. Hi! thanks for comment on my blogpost!
My garden shows some corners made by much of garden creativity and some lazy corners without it...
    Have a nice day!

  8. When Malcolm took early retirement, he took over all the gardening. I just let him get on with it, as it keeps him busy while I sew!!

  11. Hope everything gets sorted out quickly with your insurance claim. The company where I work does a lot of work for insurance companies, and all the adjusters are saying they are putting in 7-day work weeks right now.
