For some strange reason this is seeming like a long week. I suspect it's because our daughter gets here from Japan next Monday and I'm trying to speed this week up . Her room is clean, fresh linens await her, the bathroom is clean and Miss Kitty has covered everything in a fresh coat of cat fur. What more could a girl want.
We're in for rain tonight and that's a good thing, it's too warm, in the 70's, and plants are producing pollen, bad, bad, bad, I was just beginning to breathe easily.
Do you "read", listen to books? I've considered it, our library has a much better selection of audio books than ebooks. But I'm so hyper and so easily distracted that I fear I'd never keep listening.
Watched a truly awful movie this weekend and I don't say that about a lot of movies. It was Independence Day Resurgence. We loved the first Independence Day, it was well cast, decent script and lots of action. This one was just awful, not well cast, side stories that just distracted and a poor script. If I'd paid to watch it I would have wanted my money back.
Time to start lunch, hope the week speeds up.
I love to listen to audio books while I cook, do dishes, etc. Really lousy selection in Georgetown, though. The opposite of you--much better ebook selection.
ReplyDeleteWe were in Savannah this weekend and saw the lights at the botanical garden. They were lovely!
I bet you're getting excited about your daughter coming home, it's nice that you're able to celebrate Christmas together. I don't listen to audio books, I fear that my mind would wander and I'd miss parts of it, I much prefer reading than listening.
ReplyDeleteI listen to a lot of audio books on my little MP3 player. Just hate it when the battery runs out.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to have your daughter home for Christmas. We've been trying to rest and get our energy back after a few months of 2 funerals, 1 wedding and 1 80th Birthday Party (our friend). Lots of traveling...lots of miles, worn out!! HaHa.
ReplyDeleteWe have listened to audio books while driving on long trips.
Merry Christmas.
I've listened to the odd audio book in the car, but it's not something I'd do at home. I enjoyed Independence Day - if it's the one I'm thinking of, with Will Smith, it was quite a giggle.
ReplyDeleteI never tried audio books.. I always read hard copies... that way I love to ready..
ReplyDeleteI can't listen to books; I get too relaxed and fall asleep :) Thanks for the review about the movie; hubby and me thought it could never be as good as the original one with Will Smith. We saved the $1.63 it would have cost us to rent it at Red Box.

Exciting times to have your daughter home for Christmas, no wonder the week is dragging. I have never tried listening to books, but I would be willing to have a go.
ReplyDeleteHooray for your daughter coming home. I know you are so excited. I listen to audiobooks all the time in the car but also at home when I knit. I love them.
ReplyDeleteI've never listened to audio books, but friends who do seem to like them.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be lovely having your daughter at home ...
All the best Jan
I've never listened to audio books, but I used to have books on tape for my own kids. They loved to listen to them while driving. My hearing is so bad now though that I'd have to have the volume cranked, and for this reason I still enjoy plain old-fashioned reading from a book with paper pages that I turn without pressing a button ;) I've always been in love with actual books, what can I say.
ReplyDeleteExciting days ahead with your daughter coming home! Have fun!
Wendy
I'm sure you're right about time crawling because you are looking forward to your daughter coming home. I listen to audio books mostly when I am doing long drives, like when I go to my mom's down in Spokane. I also listen sometimes when I'm knitting, or out walking. But yes, it is easy to get distracted then and realize five or ten minutes of the story have gone on while my thoughts were elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to audio books - my attention wanders. Also, as our main reading time is after breakfast, when we sit in the lounge enjoying a very large cup of tea, I would have to listen through head phones, which I don't like.
ReplyDeleteThe only time I've listened to an audio book was in the car on a long journey. I hope you have a wonderful time when your daughter comes home, sounds as if you have everything ready for her visit:)
ReplyDeleteDon't you hate to spend money for a bad movie. Or a bad meal.
ReplyDeleteHope this week turns out to be a good one.
I like listening to audio books. But I prefer thrillers, suspense and mystery on audio.
