Midweek Already

My week is running away from me.  Can't remember Monday at all.  Tuesday was spent with what Lord Emsworth would call a bit of a rummy tummy, though unlike the Empress I have not been eating blancmange.  Also had a killer backache.  I was trying to decide if my back was upsetting my tummy or was my tummy upsetting my back.  Today is much better on both counts.
Today I was putting up the laundry I did yesterday which included my arch enemy a fitted sheet.  I've tried everything to learn how to fold them so they'd fit in the linen closet---yes Martha I tried your method--  and now I've decided that what I really need to make them lay flat is a giant panini press.
Just finished making a pasta salad to go with lunch today.  I have an appointment with my dermatologist, also known as Melisandre of the flaming sword.  I wasn't due to go till next month but I have a rather strange looking mole she needs to see.  Even Mac noticed it.  So I decided not to wait.
It's been reasonably hot here only upper 80's to about 90, but that's over and it's back up to the mid-90's now.
Off to play my new opera piano book, it's quite difficult so very slow going.  It's called Opera for the Piano, but a number of people complained in their reviews of it that it had no lyrics.  Well, the last time I checked my piano doesn't sing.  If I wanted lyrics I'd have ordered Opera for Voice.

  1. You seem a little perky today Janet. Maybe you're happy to be past the tummy and back problems? I solved my fitted sheet conundrum by folding them with hubby as best we can and then putting the whole set, including the pillow cases, in a canvas bin on my sheet shelf. I only use white sheets in king size, but I used to write the King or Queen on the front tag when we had a queen bed in the spare room. No one can see my lack of folding prowess with the bin hiding it.

  2. Fitted sheets, lets see ... Fold in half, insert corners of one end into the corners of the other end. Fold once again, inserting the apposing corner. Fold down the gathered edges and fold two more times. Swear, hide them in a pillowcase.
Personally, I just put them back on the bed. :-)

  3. I only have two sets of sheets...one summer, one winter...so I don't have to worry about it often. That said, I've always kind of liked folding fitted sheets. If we were neighbors, I would come fold yours. :)

  4. Oh, fitted sheets, aren't they a pain? I just fold them best I can and put them in the drawer out of sight.

  5. I solved the problem of folding fitted sheets by having one set for each bed and washing and putting them right back on. Works every time! Love the beach in your new header.

  6. I only have one set of sheets, year round. My mother was aghast when she realized that. My first pair lasted thirty years. New mattress, new sheets, four years ago. Cotton percale. In the wash every week, and back on the bed.

  7. You know what I do with fitted sheets? I fold them any whichway, then put them, the matching top sheet and one pillowcase inside the other pillowcase--nice neat package, all ready to put on the bed and no fuss with folding!

You are so funny--a piano that sings would be quite the invention! I hope you back and tummy are okay and the mole is just a mole and not a mountain.

  9. I just kind of roll the fitted sheet. Thankfully they fit in the linen closet. Hope you are up to par soon!

  10. The only way I've found of folding fitted sheets is to lay them flat on the bed, ignore the elastic corners, fold in the sides, and then, oh what the hell... stuff 'em in the drawer! I wish I could play the piano. I had lessons as a child but was forced into them by a parent. All I could think of doing was running away but I'm older now and realise the folly of my ways.

  11. Hope back and tummy are better today! As for the sheet there is one really easy answer. Only own one, on the bed, wash it, back on the bed and then you never have to fold it!!

  12. We've recently started to have fitted sheets after struggling to tuck the other ones in, haven't learned how to fold them properly yet. Hope you feel better today:)

  13. I work from home...so every day I have to remind myself multiple times what day it is! But with fitted sheets, I solved the problem. We just have one set of sheets on each bed. When I wash them, I take them off, wash and dry them, then put them right back on. I can't fight with sheets anymore!

  14. Ha Ha Ha, you are funny. Loved your last comment. I have always struggled with fitted sheets...I get them folded, but they sure don't match a nice smooth square. We've had temps over 100.

  15. I wish I lived closer I would show you how to fold a fitted sheet. I have showed several people and they come out in nice little rectangle just like the top sheet. lol

Glad your tummy/back are both better. Hope you have a great weekend. xo Diana

    1. I doubt anyone could teach me, I've tried a dozen different ways and they still come out a fat blob.
