His tail doesn't really show in the picture, but it was long. |
"What?" I asked.
"Look, it's a peacock!"
And sure enough it was, a large male peacock crossing our driveway with his long tail feathers dragging behind him.
Mac ran back into the house to get the camera and some bread to feed the bird while I followed the peacock.
Returning, Mac chased after him into the nearby woods, throwing some bread at the peacock, who briefly stopped to eat it while Mac snapped a photo, it then disappeared into the deeper woods.
Have no idea where the bird came from, I'm pretty sure none of my neighbors own one. I'm sure we'd have heard it if they did.
Hope he's safe in the woods.
What a colorful visitor! :)

There is an animal shelter a couple of miles from us, but I'm pretty sure it's strictly cats and dogs.
DeleteIt might be an escapee? In any case, an unexpected surprise is always fun. x
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I do hope it finds its way home:)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what he was doing in the woods, I do hope he stays safe.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great visitor, makes you wonder where he has snuck off from.

ReplyDeletePeacocks are such beautiful birds! If you keep feeding it bread it might become yours. :-)
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Much prettier than the turkeys that occasionally wander in here.
ReplyDeleteWell, there can't be many peacocks in your part of the world can there? Wonder where it came from! xx
