A Quick Post

Just a quick post today, we're off shopping and filling up the car with gas as Hurricane Matthew nears.
Thought I'd leave Japan for awhile and show you our first glimpses of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
Cannot tell you how long I've wanted to see Angkor Wat, it goes all the way back to my early teens when I read a book about the discovery of Angkor, my imagination was fired.  Through the years I've dreamed of seeing it, but never thought it would happen.  But with our daughter moving to Japan and us going to visit her it became a real possibility.  I was so excited.
Today some pictures, tomorrow some details.

  2. Your visits to far away places leave in in awe. Cambodia...I can barely imagine.
A funny for you--my BFF of 40 years left the snow belt of NE Ohio last July, for the outer banks of SC. They were evacuating, the last I heard.

  7. I'm so glad you got to fulfill that long-ago dream. That first photo really gives an idea of its huge size.
I hope the hurricane will miss you, too! I hope things change and we don't have to evacuate. It's a challenge with two dogs.

  10. Good Morning Janet, How wonderful that you managed to fulfil a dream you had held since you were a teenager and that it lived up to your expectations.
I love travelling, seeing new places and experiencing new food.
Last year, my dream was fulfilled when we went to visit the Taj Mahal in India.... it did not disappoint.
I am now going to read about your visit to Japan. My daughter and her husband lived in Japan for 6 months when my son in law was learning Japanese.
    Have a lovely day today.
    Best Wishes
    Daphne

  13. This is one of those places that you will only see once in a lifetime. I'm so happy for you that you were finally able to see such a beautiful place. I think I felt the same way about Pompeii and I got to see that four years ago. I LOVED it! I too had read about it's discovery (Nat'l Geo) and have been fascinated with it ever since. I've been reading back through all your Japan trip posts, and have thoroughly enjoyed them Janet. You have shared such wonderful locations. Your daughter proved to be a great tour guide, and I'll bet she was very excited to share her new home with you & Mac.
