A Busy Morning

Woke to rain, our first real rain since the 8th of October and they say there's more to come.  So humid though, our morning walk was not fun.  Boxes and boxes to be wrapped for shipping, Mac has sold some paintings and a guitar, plus boxes to family members.  My gosh shipping is high, the post office should be the best revenue producer in the  government.  Still trying to get Christmas stamps so I haven't mailed Christmas cards yet.
I'm a bit angry with out mail delivery right now.  Our regular mail lady is wonderful, always get her something for Christmas.  But each year they hire extra folks and they are nowhere near as efficient.  She honks to let us know she has boxes for us or carries them up to our porch.  The other mail people just sit it up next to the garage and let them get wet.  We took pictures this time and I swear we're going to report them.
A big pot of bean and bacon soup bubbling away on the stove, we'll eat it with sandwiches made from yesterday's pot roast.
A load of laundry done and more Christmas decorating.  A good morning.

  1. I have a similar experience with my post when my regular postie is off, it's so annoying.

  3. You are so right...shipping is so expensive! We've scaled back on the number of cards we send too! Decorating is always fun...makes you feel young...:)JP

  4. We're having a little rain too. I'm thinking about cleats; I'll be dealing with ice soon. Our post office is too small to get extra workers.

  5. Our regular mailman is great too, but we have to hope that we don't get anything important delivered to us when it is his day off!!

  6. That is just awful. If I was them I would be so happy to have a job so why do it badly. Part time can lead to full time.
Sometimes I just think people are too lazy and do not want to work.
I love making my Christmas Cards and getting them. Just a nice way to connect to your family and friends. A card in the mail makes me happy.

    cheers, parsnip

  7. I shipped packages today, I think the answer is to ship light stuff and have heavy stuff delivered from the retailer! :)

  8. I agree with you about the cost of postage. It's gotten so expensive. Our post man moved to a different area and we have the same issues as you. I hope your arm is better. Pat xx

  9. The cost of postage ... just goes up and up, but it is always so nice to receive parcels and cards isn't it.

Bean and bacon soup sounds very tasty.

    All the best Jan

  11. Postage is outrageous, it is like spending on a whole other present.

  12. Oh my, you haven't had rain for two months! Postage is expensive but I think I'm going to send a few cards this year anyway. I kind of miss getting fun stuff in the mail.
