Grumpy Old Lady Time

Woke up this morning  more tired than I went to bed, 3 cups of coffee and a coke and at least my eyes are open.  We decided it's the allergy pills I've been taking.  I try to avoid any extra medication, I take so many regularly, but my allergies had reached the point where my eyes were threatening to leave home and take my sinuses with them.  So I've been taking an antihistamine for about 10 days now.  My eyes and sinuses are happy, but the rest of me is wrung out.  I'll have to try an every other day regime.

Called my mail order pharmacy because instead of sending my lovely capsules for blood pressure they sent me big white horse pills. I asked why and after listening to an interlude or really bad elevator music the pharmacist said my doctor had ordered it because they were extended release and that if I wanted the capsules back I'd have to talk to him.  So before I talk to my doctor I'm going to try and swallow one tonight.

Next whinge,  why oh why do they put metal handles on pots and lids!  My hands are tired of me forgetting to grab a pot holder and ending up burning my hand.

Enough whining, it's a beautiful day and I've had a swim and I'm almost feeling human, hope you are too.

    1. I was thinking the exact same thing...even wearing my hair in a bun today. :) The knees look pretty much like mine, but my ankles aren't nearly so shapely, and my legs are a lot hairier at the moment! :)

  2. Those big pills are ugly but, take it from me, don't buy a pill cutter and cut one in half! The jagged edge of a half pill is harder to get down than the smooth whole one. Good luck with the allergies.

    1. Pharmacist told me not to cut them, it would interfere with the time release. And I agree about jagged edges on cut pills.

  3. I use antihistamine eye drops rather than pills so often. My allergies have changed so my eyes are the most affected.
You can wrap most handles with rope or something to help. Or keep pot holders on the stove in plain sight.

  6. Thank you for the reminder! I am having a day of trying to knock little chores off my list that keep getting overlooked. One of which is ordering new knobs for my pans/lids...they seem to all be broken at the moment which isn't too bad considering they are 40 years old. I think they can still be ordered. Fingers crossed.

  7. Weird the doctor changed your medicine without telling you about it? Maybe a call into his office is in order? (I'm not a doctor, I just listen to them all day, LOL). Rant away. It is good to do so at times. I found myself screaming at the computer screen today trying to decipher what some doctors were saying and then trying to figure out what others wanted. A glass of wine at the end of the day was my remedy to feel a bit better :)

  9. I was inevitably attracted by your headline...I think Grumpy Old Ladies, rather like Grumpy Old Men - and carrier bags and coat hangers, come to that - breed. You can't beat a good whinge; I do it all the time... :-)

  12. Oh dear, hope things are better now. I hate trying to swallow large pills, it takes me all my time to cope with the normal ones. Hope you can get them changed back again:)

  13. I have the same problems when I take allergy meds. I think they do what they're supposed to but I'm like a limp noodle by the afternoon so I don't really know. And I am totally with you on those metal handles on cookware. Especially on the lids! - I hope you're feeling better!

I hope that things are a little better now, and that you get your pill sorted.

    All the best Jan

  15. I'm with you on the metal handles on lids....ouch. Sorry about your allergies. My Cal. Mag. VitD is the size of a barn. They are hard to swallow.

  18. With all of the technology there is, I don't understand why some pills have to be so huge, and sometimes so weirdly shaped. I have a couple of big pills I have to take. They are hard for me to swallow. They are easier to swallow if I put them in a little gob of sugar free jelly and make sure they are completely covered with it. Sugar free jelly works better for me than apple sauce.

  20. I hope you're feeling a little better now. I used to suffer terribly with allergies and I know how they can get you down. I'm lucky, I seem to have grown out of mine, I only get them occasionally now.
