It was 87º at 9 when we headed out for our morning walk. It was not our usual long walk, too hot, just enough to get some of the stiffness out. It was only supposed to be 90º today, but we passed that a while back so the air conditioner has been on since about 10:30.
Just came in from the pool, it was lukewarm. I did something I almost never do, I swam underwater. I hate getting my head wet, but it was just too hot to do otherwise. So now I'll have to drip-dry.
Cleaned the outside of kitchen cupboards today, two have glass fronts and they were definitely looking grubby.
During the week I wear my contact lens which is for distance (have to wear readers with it to see up close) so I often don't see as much as I should (or shouldn't depending on your point of view). But on Sundays I wear my regular glasses and I see everything, so I've been cleaning things that don't get it on a regular basis.
Fixing fried chicken today, though not so much fried as simmered. I brown it and then cook it with fat-free chicken stock which keeps it moist and doesn't add fat. I don't cook much with fat, a tablespoon of olive oil occasionally, but that's about it. And yet judging by the cupboards I cleaned today you'd swear I'm using a deep fryer on a daily basis.
Lots of baseball and golf this afternoon while I work on my cross-stitch.
Hope you have a great Sunday.
I am not a fan of getting my head wet either, I get a little scared with water in my face. The chicken sounds good.
ReplyDeleteMy kitchen gets dirty as soon as I walk into the room!

I usually swim with my head well out of the water, I don't like to get my hair wet.
ReplyDeleteKitchen cupboards are on my mind too. I want to leave them in pristine condition when I move but my mobility means I can't get dow to clean them properly.
ReplyDeleteChanging glasses to see various things is such a bother. I often misplace my readers ...
ReplyDeleteOverly warm again today, sigh.
Woo hoo. I revived my traveler skills and book tickets to Milwaukee, plus parking with shuttle and wheel chair delivery to gate service. As I trust none of this until I've seen how it works, I am a demanding traveler, and one wheel chair person said "Don't worry, m'am, you won't be left behind. Well, that's Christmas out of the way.
ReplyDeleteI love chicken with the skin on but don't eat it that why much. Have a bag full of skinless chicken in the freezer.
ReplyDeleteWould love to know how you cook the chicken and what you serve it with.
cheers, parsnip
Not having much hair being under the water does not bother me however only with goggles on and then I can open my eyes :-)
ReplyDeleteGood trick about cooking the chicken with stock after browning it!
ReplyDeleteI rarely get my hair wet when I swim either, I try to keep my face out of the water as it hurts my eyes.
ReplyDeleteI spotted some spots in our kitchen yesterday that need tackling, how do they get there!
ReplyDeleteI have my cleaning done for me but they never think of cleaning out cupboards....duh! Seriously, that's a job I like to do when I can summon up the energy to do it. I'm still wondering how you can do anything in that heat.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been swimming once this summer ... and we have a pool!! The weather has left the pool very cold though as we don't heat it, and it needs a good week of hot sun to warm it up. I admire you for cleaning when it's so hot out! A/C certainly helps with the motivation I guess. I need some motivation this week as I'm back to work again ... blah.

I don't swim but I can't stand showers where water hits your head, have to have one that lowers down or is detachable. I have been cleaning the fronts of cupboards, when I got up close I could see the splashes of cooking etc on them:)
ReplyDeleteI love your posts. It's like sitting down to coffee with a good friend. I will never complain about cleaning my one bathroom again :)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny in my younger days I didn't mind getting my hair wet, the older I get the more I tend to keep my face out of the water!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
