Back to Normal

The water didn't stay long, started receding about an hour after it came in.  Once the tide went out on the Ogeechee River it took our water with it.
Our electricity was out for about 10 hours, from 6:15 am until 4pm, not bad at all.  We have an electric coop and they're great at  getting us up and running again.  While it was out we used the new generator to run the refrigerator, a fan and the tv.
Once our water came back on, our community is on a well, we had to boil the water to use it, just as a precaution.  Today they said our water was ok.
We needed to go to the store yesterday and a tree was leaning over the driveway so Mac had to cut it down.  Then he spent yesterday afternoon cleaning the yard.
Our satellite tv wasn't working exactly right so I called DIRECTV up yesterday and they straightened things out quickly.
So we're doing well.  Hope life returns to normal for the folks down in Florida.

It didn't break the panel, just knocked it out.

  1. That was some quick work! You were lucky that was all the problems you had. Think the folks in Florida will have a little more trouble.

  2. I am thrilled for you. A generator is on our shopping list, we have a lot of power cuts due to the wind.

  3. It sounds like you've been very lucky. We keep seeing all the damage on the news and it looks terrible, I feel so sorry for all those people who have lost their homes, and worse.

  7. I'm relieved to hear it did not get worse than that where you live.

  8. Gosh! You were very fortunate not to have sustained any damage, a bit of flooding on the road isn't too bad providing it does not enter any buildings.
I hear Jose is heading up too but nobody is very sure of where exactly.

  9. It seems that damage was not as great as feared for many areas--but devastating for those who took the brunt of the storm. Hopefully calmer weather will prevail.

  12. Glad you had the generator to help as it did with the fridge, etc. Glad things are returning back to normal for you. Like I mentioned before (I think) I type for a group of Florida hospitals. They are returning to business too and lots of hurricane related incidents patients are coming in with.

  16. So glad that you're getting back to normal. It's reassuring to know that you have the support of a community in your area and the generator must have been a great help.

  17. Glad you are getting back to normal and minimal damage. We have branches and pine cones to clean up but we've been busy with other things and haven't gotten out there yet. We have talked about a generator but haven't taken the plunge.

  19. I've just caught up with your posts, so glad the water has receded and didn't get in. There seem to be problems every where.

  20. Glad you are back to normal! Our town got beaten pretty badly when Hurricane Irma passed right over us. Miraculously, we didn't have any damage and our power was out for only about 14 hours. We are really grateful, but almost experience guilt - there are a lot of people who suffered damage and quite a few who still don't have power here.

  21. Well, that is good news and it sounds like you've been very lucky.

So many communities have ben clearing up and there's more bad weather to come for some!
My thoughts are with all those who have been affected by this recent bout of terrible weather.

    All the best Jan
