Dinner was delicious if I do say so myself, may have been the best leg of lamb I've ever cooked. The pies I made were just
so-so, I had only one piece, but the others kindly ate more.
Many gifts were exchanged, both needed and surprising.
April brought us both goodies from Japan, mostly chocolate for me and more adventuresome fare for Mac.

She gave me the most awesome Godzilla (if you've read this blog for any length of time you know I love Godzilla), he not only roars, smoke comes out of his mouth, well actually not smoke, but mist, he's technically a humidifier. Mac built him a town to destroy, I'll have fun with that.
I gave Mac a toy from his childhood, a set of vintage cap guns and the caps to shoot with them.
There were many laughs, a great day.
How lovely that your daughter makes the effort to come home for Xmas but I suspect it really wouldn't be Xmas without you guys.
ReplyDeleteGreat to be all together for Christmas, it sounds as if you had a wonderful time:)
ReplyDeleteA wonderful Christmas with your daughter but it's so tough saying goodbye.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you had a wonderful Christmas celebration with your dear loved ones. I'm sure the home will feel lonely without your dear daughter. Hugs, Pat
ReplyDeleteOh, I remember those cap guns, I loved playing with those but the caps always ran out far too quickly. The Godzilla sounds like fun. What a great Christmas you've had. Daniel's had to go home already too, he's back at work so couldn't stay any longer, but it was lovely to have all the family here to celebrate Christmas together.
ReplyDeleteYou have a humidifier that is Godzilla? I want one too!
ReplyDeleteSo happy that your daughter was able to make that long trip from Japan. xx
My husband would probably like some cap guns as well. He pretty much likes any kind of gun. Know you miss your daughter but so glad she was able to spend Christmas with you. Happy 2018!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really great day! So lucky your daughter came home to visit. Mine came for Christmas (not from so far away lol) but she said she probably won't next year - the weather can get too bad and she has to drive because of the dog. A ten hour drive is just too long when there is snow about!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you got some lovely, unique gifts. I hate saying goodbye too.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time
ReplyDeleteJulie xxxx
Glad you had a fun time. Looks like Mac will be cooking with all those ingredients while you play with Godzilla lol. B x
ReplyDeleteSounds amazing, a wonderful family get together. The lamb looked delicious.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had a fabulous time with April. I hope her journey back is uneventful and smooth. Love your fun gifts - I used to play with cap guns. My oldest son had one, too. He scraped out all the powder from the caps and constructed a mini bomb that he set of in the garden. That was the end of that. xx
ReplyDeleteI can remember smashing caps with a hammer, but never thought of making a bomb.
DeleteSo glad your daughter was able to come home! That cap gun, LOL!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

I have never had leg of lamb. That looks like some real adventerous food from Japan! :)
ReplyDeleteSo nice to have your daughter there for Christmas! Love all the wonderful and creative gifts. Those are the best kind! Christmas goes by so fast, but now you have wonderful memories until you are together again. x Karen
ReplyDeleteYou had such a fun Christmas and sharing with your daughter must have been wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLaughing is the best way to celebrate. Love that Godzilla.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got to have your daughter home. We got our son home from New York. It was great. He's in Germany now! Did you get any of those exquisitely fashioned and wrapped sweets from Japan? They look better than they taste. Just sweet jellies really.
ReplyDeleteYou got some interesting presents. Is Japanese chocolate different from American? I remember cap guns!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely that you spent Christmas together, some more marvellous memories of good times shared.
ReplyDeleteMy good wishes for 2018 - it will be here soon!
All the best Jan
ohhhhh. A cap gun! I remember how I loved them. Do they make them anymore? Seems like it was harmless fun after all.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that candy from other countries always is so intriguing? I'd ask for chocolates, too, if someone were to bring me stuff from abroad.
