Wednesday in the Swamp

I haven't had a lot to blog about except the weather and that gets a bit boring after a while.  Monday was an absolutely gorgeous day, hit 77º and we worked in the garden.  It looks really bad, between my neglect and the snow it needs a lot of work.
My Daffodils are coming up and they even have buds on them.  We've covered them on the cold nights and are hoping for the best.
I need to do some more decluttering, I went through the dishes and there's a stack sitting here, some will go on eBay and some will go to Goodwill.  Also need to get rid of a bunch of stemware, we never use it.  Probably to Goodwill as trying to mail it to someone would be cost prohibitive.  Postage is getting so expensive.
I need to go through my closet too. I've got to stop thinking, well I might wear that someday.  Ha, if I haven't worn it in a year (dresses excepted because I only wear them on special occasions) I'm not going to wear it.  It may look pretty hanging in the closet, but it isn't getting worn any time soon.  So they need to go.
Lots of soups being eaten and today it's shrimp and rice, perfect for the weather.
Lots of reading and not much else, I keep telling myself to finish my cross-stitch, but I get bored and go back to reading.  I am so easily distracted, except when I'm reading, and flit from one thing to another.  I know a lot of people listen to audio books, but I'd forget I'm listening and get going on something else.  I'm definitely not an auditory person.  Don't give me oral directions for anything, write it down.
Changed my header, a painting Mac painted for me a year or so ago.  Right now he's busy wrapping a painting that's going out today. One lady has bought 5 paintings from him, she really likes his work.   I'm so proud of him
Hope you're having a good January.

  1. Much the same going on here. As I was thinking the other day, it's a 'whole lotta nada.'

  2. I think we are into the winter doldrums! At least grey/cloudy/damp is easier than freezing days and nights! Books, sewing, comfortTfoods!
The wild daffs at the pasture edge are still mere green nubs hugging the ground although we've had them in other years that wanted to bud in January.

  3. Well, January and February (and March) do need to be gone, but don't move any faster than usual, so getting on with the jobs of the season--decluttering, for instance.

  4. Love the header, you have one talented husband and every right to be proud of him. I need to sort out clothing but have decided to defer it in the short time as I am working on getting healthy so expect to lose a little weight. (I live in hope, anyway)

  5. Don't worry about your daffodils they are very happy in cold snowy conditions - they thrive happily in the Lake District and Scotland where they put up with whatever is thrown at them.
I am decluttering to a certain extent as I spring clean, but looking forward to the day when it is all done and dusted.

  8. Congrats on Mac's paintings and the one he did for you is just lovely!!!
I have been on a purge and release program, too. Dishes, glassware, CLOTHES. We have a YWCA that has a 'back to work' program for women that are going back into the work force and can't afford wardrobes. They can go in 3 times a year and get several outfits, shoes, handbags, accessories for no charge. It was a wonderful solution for me to donate there.

Hope you have a great night- xo Diana

  9. The new header is lovely. You have a talented husband. I have a lot of glassware to get rid of and can't decide what to do with it. Maybe a charity would like it. Trouble is I can't take it and they won't come out unless it's to collect furniture. !

  11. I've noticed Daffodils coming through the ground too. It's way too early! I've simply got to go through my closet. It looks like a rack in Goodwill! There are pieces in my closet that have been there for over ten years and not been worn...and I keep thinking I might wear them.

  12. I've been catching up on blogs today and so many talk about decluttering... which is also on my mind. Must be something about that post-Christmas feeling. I have some very nice stuff I need to get rid of so hoping I can find an upmarket charity shop nearby.
