I guess St. Patrick must have missed a few. This one was sunning himself next to our driveway.this afternoon. Mac said he's a Black Racer and was about 4 1/2 feet long. You know I didn't take the picture. I'm not particularly afraid of snakes, but then again, they're not on my list of animals I'd like to hang out with either.
After seeing this one Mac saw another snake swimming in the lagoon, he studied it with binoculars and decided that it wasn't a moccasin or a cottonmouth so he didn't shoot it. He thinks it was a Great Northern Water Snake.
Now snakes on the land are one thing and those in the water another. I HATE WATER SNAKES! There's just something evil looking about them.
So if you happen to see St. Patrick tell him I have a job for him.
I can't say I'm particularly afraid of snakes but then I don't see them in every day situations. Perhaps I would be if I did.
ReplyDeleteBrr, just seeing the word snake makes me get the shivers! Hope you don't get too many more. xx
ReplyDeleteSnakes are not for me, living here in the UK it is not a regular occurrence thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the water ones either. It's creepy to see them swimming with their heads out of the water.
ReplyDeleteIt's hot and smoky here today. We had to close up the house as the smoke is just hovering over everything and not blowing away. Don't know where it's coming from either.
Maybe someone's doing a controlled burn.
DeleteI am not afraid of snakes out here in the desert but I know to be respectful of the poisonous ones.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that bothers me of all the poisonous spiders are scorpions.
I know nothing about the water ones but I know I wouldn't like them !
cheers, parsnip
I would be outta there at first sight of a snake. Hate them. I'm a big baby when it comes to snakes.
ReplyDeleteOne good thing about cold winters...no snakes :) :)
ReplyDeleteI get quite excited on the rare occasion when I see a snake - they are quite rare over here; we only have about three species and only one dangerous one, the adder. Which are only dodgy if you disturb them. I might change my mind if we had more like yours though!
