Catching Up

Monday was a busy one.  Our favorite redneck came over and cut down,  and up,  trees for us.  Then he helped Mac carry a couch out of the house.  For a while I've been threatening to turn our dining room into a library.  We don't eat there, in 14 years we've never eaten there and we never will.  But we have books up the ying-yang.
Then again,  though we don't use that room, it's so pretty I hated to change it.  So then I got to thinking about the couch I hate, even though I've put a slipcover on it, the leather chairs upstairs where we never go and the bigger rug there.  So they hauled the couch I hate out---need to contact Salvation Army and see if they'll take it--moved the big living room couch into the family room,  covered it with a freshly cleaned slipcover and dragged 2 chairs, a Pembroke table and a rug downstairs.
So I have a new look living room.   Mac says the ugly chair in the corner has to go and we need a mantel, but for now I'm happy.

  2. It looks great and the change around might mean that you use that room more now.

  4. Moving furniture and art lets us enjoy the same pieces with new eyes.

Do not know how long you have lived in your home but I would ditch the dining room and put your library there. Or put the dining table in front of a wall of books. Nothing nicer that a big table with some open books and a coffee.
    Just my thought.

  6. I like the big chairs with the chest/coffee table. A mantle is a great piece to focus the room, so I hope you get one soon. So nice to change things around a bit every so often!

  8. I kind of like the ugly chair in the corner, unless it is not comfortable to sit in, then it has to go.

  10. I, too, love those chairs. I'm in a change everything mood. It's so satisfying being able to organise things the way I want them.

  13. Comfy! Though I probably would have voted for the library. You can never have enough space for books!

  15. I need to get rid of a few pieces of furniture too...so what constitutes an ugly chair? transform it with a pretty afghan and a pillow:)

  17. Sounds like you've been a busy bee! I love the switching around of furniture and rooms. Our dining room has become a hobby room for me since we never ate in there, nor do we eat in the breakfast room often. I'm loving how much use the room is getting now.

  18. Who needs a dining room? Our dining table and chairs is in the dining nook, and the "dining room" has book shelves, filing cabinets, and the treadmill in it.

There's something very satisfying about rearranging furniture!
