Technologically Challenged

I have an MP3 player that I love, I use it every day when I exercise.  I have about 250 songs on it, but recently I decided that it was time to add some new ones.  So I went to Amazon, bought some new ones and pulled some out of my music library there, attached my MP3 player to my computer and tried to download the music.  I tried for 2 days, I went to Amazon forums for advice, I went to Google.  I wasted all of yesterday and a good portion of this morning.  I couldn't figure it out.  I mean, obviously I'd done it before, even helped Mac load stuff on his MP3.  But nothing worked.  I gave up and tried to get some housework done.
Then Mac caught me and asked if I'd turned the songs into MP3 format.  Uh, no, and how do you do that.  Well all I had to do was go to i-tunes, check preferences, select MP3 and then drag the songs into my MP3 that was on the desktop.
I felt so silly. The music was loaded in no time and I checked to make sure they were there.
I'm going to write this down so I'll know what to do next time, because if there is one thing you can be sure of, if I don't, the next time I want to add music I will have forgotten how to do it.

  1. This would be funny if it wasn't so familiar.

  2. I am a big believer in writing down the steps to something techie. When Tom fixes something, I write down exactly what he has done so next time we will know just what to do. Glad your music is all set!

  5. I get frustrated when I can't do something or find something and I will waste too much time trying to do it.
Happy to know your music is now downloaded.

  6. It is so annoying when it is the simplest of things that you need to adjust isn't it. Yesterday when I was sewing I couldn't work out why the machine worked perfectly well, but did sound the same as normal. Then I noticed that the lever - because it is that old it has levers not buttons! - for the speed was in a different position than normal. I moved it and hey presto, all was well again! So glad you got your new music loaded up and that it went well in the end! You have this blog post to refer back to now in the future. I need to put some new music on my mp3 too, but it isn't an apple and I don't have the faintest idea how to do it. I think I will give it to Hubby to sort out!!

    1. Mine's not an Apple, it's just a little cheap thing, but I buy music from Amazon and download it to my i-tune thingy on my computer.

  8. Don't know where I'd be without my MP3 player. It's on when I cook, I plug it in to my car and, if Mrs B didn't object, I'd have it on in the bedroom. It's got about 1600 tracks on it - everything - pop, classical, blues, rock, folk - and I just put it on shiffle. Sorry, I mean shuffle. You can do all of this by using simple mp3 files, though, and avoiding i-tunes altogether. I think I-tunes gets in the way - unless you're using an Apple product.
