Is This A Long Week or What?

Even though I don't work I'm sure today should be Friday.  It all started with our walk this morning, someone stretched it out so that it felt twice as long.  Of course the weather is a factor, it was 85º yesterday and it doesn't feel much cooler  today.  They keep teasing us saying tomorrow will be cooler, kind of like the old joke "free beer tomorrow".
We went to WallyWorld yesterday in search o Chrysanthemums and Pansies.  They had no plants!  Their whole big garden section was filled up with bikes.  So no flowers to decorate my front steps.  Did some other shopping and left, not my favorite store.
Today I had to make bread, strip the beds and wash sheets, cool off, clean bathrooms, iron pillow cases and make the bed.  I get tired just thinking about it.  Also made a pot of chili we'll have later, it tastes and smells delicious.  Actually got all that done except for the bathrooms, guess it's going to be toilet Thursday tomorrow.
I'm actually reading an Agatha Christie novel I've never read before, I thought I'd read them all.  It's They Came To Baghdad.  No Hercule Poirot, no Jane Marple, no Tuppence and Tommy, but quite good.

  1. I've been cleaning my mother's cupboards and yes, this week seems interminable! We have a trunkful for the Goodwill and a trashcan full of outdated spices, cans...etc. And what is left, all at a height she can reach from her walker and without bending at the waist more than 90 degrees. And it's 85 here, too, and stupidly I didn't bring my swimsuit. Maybe we can blame the extra long week on getting that extra hour back on Sunday!

  2. Feel like a long week here too, but no medical appointments always makes my week seem longer cause I don't have to be anyplace!

  3. I’m amazed you can do housework in that heat. Went to see the new film of Murder on the Orient express with Kenneth Branagh. It was excellent. B x

    1. Could you get past the way Hercule looked ? I just keep staring at his mustache. So unnerving.

  4. Yikes. Too hot! They are saying we'll have our first snow tomorrow. Not sure which I'd prefer - heat or snow! I was thinking that the week is flying by. I never seem to have enough time in the day!

  5. Sounds like a lovely day you've had. I'll have to look up the Agatha Christie novel you mentioned. I've been listening to them on you tube vs reading. I can't do my needlepoint and read at the same time. Haha. Your chili sounds so yummy right now. Enjoy your evening and don't work too hard. Hugs. Pat

  6. I often find weeks stretching out, even though I don't work either. I haven't read They Came To Baghdad yet but it's on the list.

  7. We got down to 20°F here last night and they are talking snow this week. I am never ready for that.
Wallyworld is not my favorite either but they are cheaper on lots of things....sadly.

Have a good night- xo Diana

  8. It is like that in the Atlanta area too! We will have our autumn for about a week! LOL!
Listen, I tried to look up nurseries in Savannah...Have you heard of Herb Creek? http://herbcreek.com/
It looks good to me! :-)

  9. I kept thinking it was Thursday today. My hubby went out of town yesterday and didn't do his usual work schedule so it threw my cleaning schedule off by a day as I couldn't really clean with him around. Did the bathrooms today (usually on Tuesday). Have to vacuum tomorrow (usually Friday) because he's off on Friday for Veteran's Day. When he retires, then the chores will be distributed more fairly (right now I do all the housecleaning but that's because he has over an hour each way commute to work).

  10. I don't envy you all those jobs. I live in a very small bungalow so the workload isn't great and I do have help with it, thank goodness. I have just been sorting out a walk-in cupboard and that's it for today.

  11. Must be hard to do al those chores in such heat. I once went into our local supermarket in October to buy a new hand trowel for planting as the one we had had broken in half only to be told that 'Oh, we've packed gadening away, it's all Christmas now':)

  12. Just think of me, scraping ice off the car windscreen in the mornings - that might make you feel cooler!!

  14. Down here in Texas we are enjoying highs of 60! Loving the cold weather and sorry for your 85 degree stuff. Tomorrow is another day! Just visited our 4 y/o granddaughter and she will ask what you think she should wear...If it's not what she has in mind, she always says: "I'll wear that tomorrow!" but tomorrow never comes in her world.

  15. It was quite warm here in the Atlanta area last weekend, but it's been cooling down all week. Feels like fall today, and after having some rain the other night, the ground is covered with leaves. But I have a feeling this is only going to be a quick cool-down period, and we'll have the windows open again in another week or so.

Great minds think alike. Chili is on our menu for tonight. :)

  16. I have never read that novel either. A real bonus to discover a book by a favourite author who is long dead and so won't be writing any more.
