I'm getting things ready for Christmas. Today I addressed and stamped cards, they'll go out next week. Tomorrow I'll wrap everything that needs to be mailed. Almost through shopping, looking for stocking stuffers. Buying for Mac is the hardest, I search and search to find things that will tickle his fancy.
Took the carcass from the game hens and made it into chicken and rice soup this morning, it made the whole house smell good. I'm getting to really like homemade soups, so less full of sodium than the canned ones.
Today is Cyber Monday, but I haven't bought anything. I shop online all the time, I don't need a special day to make Jeff Bezos richer ($100.5). And to the people sending me catalogues, you're wasting your time and money. I'm sorry to say that they go directly to the trash.
Suitcases await me, have to get to them tomorrow. Colder in NYC than here so much warmer clothes. Want to see the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Square lit up and the Christmas Market in Union Square, not to mention the Gangster Tour we're doing one night.
Hope you're off to a good start this week.
I'm nowhere near ready for Christmas yet, I've only just started doing any shopping, I'm way behind this year. Your New York trip sounds fun, I can't wait to hear all about it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun is in the cards for you! I love to make soup, especially in winter. And it satisfies my thrifty side. I sent cards to overseas relatives today, and got most of the decorations out but that's as far as I've gotten. We'll probably be donating to a food pantry again this year in lieu of gifts, so that's simplified the holidays a lot!
ReplyDeleteAt last I finished the mini album.. hopefully next week I can post it to my sister.. after she receives that. I'll share the album in the blog.. :)
ReplyDeleteOur tree is up, but awaits decorations. Christmas letter is started but not finished yet. But I'm ahead of last year, so there is hope. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time in the big apple!
Your trip sounds fun. Yes, I do think you will need to pack your winter clothes.
ReplyDeleteWe made a list today of all the things we have to do, make, buy, etc. before Christmas and a bit of a plan for getting it all in. So I guess you could say we made a start on Christmas.
I've got a few presents, so have made a small start towards Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYour trip to New York sounds great - have a wonderful time.
All the best Jan
Slow but sure wins the race they say. I don't know as it seems like I go like a house afire most of the time. lol
ReplyDeleteGlad you are so far ahead of the game. You will be all set for Christmas without a crunch of work as it gets near. xo Diana
A good week underway here, too. Having Christmas in another state is wonderful. Presents were packed to ship a month ago, then Ann blew through on one of her power drives, and they went home by car, not by the post office.
ReplyDeleteYour trip to New York sounds fun!! Great job on getting things together for Christmas! It will be here before we know it!

Have fun on your trip! Sounds like you are all set to go. I love home-made soups, too. Sick of all those darn catalogs clogging up my mailbox. Safe travels. x Karen
ReplyDeleteYour trip sounds wonderful, have a great time.
ReplyDeleteI'm still having a little difficulty accepting that Christmas is coming soon!
Sounds like you're well on the way to getting Christmas sorted.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great trip to New York:)
ReplyDeleteI have written all cards and bought the stamps but will leave actual posting for a while yet. I am envious about your trip to NY... wishing I was there again, especially at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteMost of my gifts are done and wrapped, but the cards still need writing.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip to NY.
Hope you'll get lots of photos of the Gangster Tour! Never heard of it, but it sounds gruesomely good.
ReplyDeleteYour trip sounds so exciting. I making split pea soup tomorrow with the ham bone left over from Thanksgiving. It has a lot of meat on it, so know it will make good soup.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are well on your way to being ready. Have a wonderful time in NY.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! I like making soups too! Have fun on your trip! :0
ReplyDeleteHope you have fun in New York!
ReplyDeleteYou are way ahead of the game regarding Christmas. I'm doing better than I thought but (as with most things) I'm not very organised. Oh well. It always seems to come together in the end.
My husband heard something about the Sears catalogue coming back. What???
ReplyDeleteOur tree will go up this weekend. Presents and cards are a different story.
The trip sounds wonderful! Looking forward to hearing more.
ReplyDeleteI love homemade soups. I made chili soup tonight for lunch tomorrow. Have you ever noticed that soups seem to taste better the next day? What a great idea to use the hen carcass! I was busy last week putting decorations up in our house because I had several ladies over Friday night. this week I plan on doing a lot more relaxing. I still have Christmas presents to buy and wrap!
