Time to do an old lady vent. We went to the commissary today and though it looks really good after its remodel I'm having trouble with it. Things have really been rearranged. Some of the rearranging makes sense and some makes no sense at all. So shopping took way longer than it should have as Mac and I both searched for things.
Some things just weren't there: no ground pork, no lamb of any kind, no UHT milk (I don't drink it, I use it for baking)---lots of soy milk, coconut milk, almond milk, but no UHT, none of my coffee, Dunkin Donut Dark, no red leaf lettuce, no calcium, lots of broken eggs ---Mac had to search a lot of boxes to find enough whole ones-- and no pumpkin pies. So I'll be making my own, probably should have anyway, that way I'll know exactly what's in it.
Then my watch died, I buy cheap ones so they never last very long. I only wear one when we're out and about, at home I don't care what time it is.
And to top things off I had an old lady moment. When I change pants or jeans I like to pull them over my shoes. Hate to take my shoes off because I have to double knot the ties because they're too long. Anyway, I couldn't get my jeans off and had to call for Mac who basically laughed at me, told me take my shoes off, but them pulled them off of me. I need to look for some walking shoes with good support ( I wear Easy Spirit) that have velcro closing instead of ties, then it'd be easy to change clothes.
Well enough grumbling, it's a beautiful day and I need to go and fix lunch.
Well, I hope the rest of the day is more fun! Keeping my fingers crossed. x
ReplyDeleteThe pants/shoes thing is horrid, I agree. I wish shoes when through pants legs, like the old days, and I wish I could still stand on one foot to do it.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things which annoys me about shopping in a supermarket which isn't my usual one is that you never know where things are, and supermarkets are so big these days that it can take hours hunting everything down.
ReplyDeleteA good grumble is just what everyone needs every once in a while. As I get so stressed about Christmas, I really can't stand it you are about to hear lots of grumbling from me!
ReplyDeleteI think all my shoes and boots now have got either velcro closing, or zippers, or elastic strings (without knots). I need a shoehorn, though! But I have long one by the door at home; and I also have one small enough to put in my handbag to take with me if I think I might need one...
ReplyDeleteGUD Rant !
ReplyDeleteI have one coming up but I keep putting it off.
cheers, parsnip
Merrells are the best, I think....May have misspelled that.
ReplyDeleteA good rant now and again for us oldies is just the thing.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when shops rearrange their shelves. It's like they do it on purpose to confuse us.
ReplyDeleteHope rest of the you are enjoying..
ReplyDeleteOur local grocery store did that to us also, I complained to the manager. I suppose it made sense to him, but I still cannot find some things. I hope you feel better after your rant! :)
ReplyDeleteVent away. Sometimes its good to get things off our chests so to speak. Our grocery store did a recent remodel. Drove me nuts for weeks.
ReplyDeletebetty
We had apple crumble today! I really dislike it when supermarkets change their layout and you have to faff about trying to find things. I suppose I'm the kind of shopper they don't like as I rush in and go straight to what I want, I expect they move things around to make you stop and look and perhaps buy something you didn't know you wanted:)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about shoes and trousers. Whenever possible I wear simple slip-off sandals with trousers but the weather controls that action. Our huge store that sells everything except food has, apparently, been changed beyond recognition. I dread going there.
ReplyDeleteLOL-about the shoes and pants. I usually wear flats but don't need a lot of support for my feet which makes a big difference, too. Hope they get the store straightened out soon. What a mess- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWell, sorry but I had to chuckle over the pants and shoes hangup. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving week!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am laughing right now - sorry :( I hate it when the stores do a remodel and it seems they are always phasing out my favorite products. I've been shopping at my store for years and am still trying to figure out where things are because they keep moving everything. Hope the rest of your day went better!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, How do you do that? Taking your jeans off or wearing it with your shoes on. That's a talent, I should say. I can wear jeans, standing. But I think most of us can do that... :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's good to grumble!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I'm one of those rare people who love browsing in grocery stores, looking at stuff I won't buy, checking labels, reading recipes on the containers... Much more fun than shopping for clothes, in my opinion! My husband is the same way. We check out "other" grocery stores when we go on vacation. Hope you become familiar with the new layout at your commissary quickly and they start carrying your items again.
