How Old

I was looking at my Fall/Winter dishes and I was wondering how old were they.  I know I bought them before we moved to Georgia and we've been here about 14 1/2 years.  And I know I didn't  buy them when we lived in Hemet, California because there was no Pier 1 store in Hemet.  We lived in Hemet about 6 1/2 years, so the dishes were at least 21 years old.  Then I realized that I had to have bought them when we lived in Murrieta, California.  We lived there about 6 1/2 years.  So they could be up to 27 years old.
Then I looked on the back and saw that they hadn't been made in China and Lord knows everything is made in China and has been for years.
Wonder of wonder they'd been made in England.  I didn't know England even made dishes any more. These still look brand new so I'd love to know who in England made them.

  2. Wow, I have 2 bowls and 2 salad plates from this pattern. I got them at Goodwill here in the PNW about 8-10 years ago. Mine were made in Italy!
    I really love your blog.

  4. They've amortized well. Bet you hated how much you had to pay for them, too.

  5. I have dishes very similar to this. They were my wedding china and were bought in England, a gift from my parents. The factory would have a shop we could buy them from and I spent a lot of time in there over the years, as both my sister and my mother loved them. I love yours.

  6. Those are pretty dishes. I envy you having the room for seasonal dishes. I have my everyday stuff (Pfaltzgraff stoneware) in the kitchen, and my good china (Noritake) in the hutch in the dining room. I have nowhere else to put any dishes but I would love to have a Christmas-y set.

  8. I love dishes but I've never even thought about seasonal dishes. I do have patriotic dishes but the other sets I just use year round. These are lovely and I hope you can find out who made them. Maybe the internet will help you.

    1. I use Replacements a lot, but not for this set of dishes, knock on wood, I've never broken a piece.

  13. What a lovely design. It reminds me a little of the Fresh Fruit design crockery which M&S used to sell.

  14. Yes, made in England sounds right. I have one plate of the first design but there's no date on it. I must have had it for almost 40 years.

  15. A lot of the big pottery names have gone now its such a shame but Bridgewater still manufactures here as well as companies that supply the catering and hotel industry like Steelite, Dudson and Churchill. Your dishes are very pretty and I think I've seen something similar made by Churchill:)

  16. These look very like the Royal Worcester designs. We have one of the most favorite, Evesham but there are others with fruits on. You can look on Replacements or just google the name. JanF

  17. You got me at "my fall dishes". It never occurred to me to change my dishes with the season, but it would make setting the table more interesting. Isn't it funny how we date things from events in our lives? "Well, Anna had her first birthday in that house so it must have been 1984 when we bought the house." I'd be lost in time without those markers!

  18. LOL- I always date a thing by where I lived when I got it. Hubby and I have bought/rehabbed 15 houses so I can tell almost to the year when I purchased something that way.

Those are lovely dishes. xo Diana
